Tribal
rivalries led to further decimation at the nearby village with
considerable temporary housing uncertainties. Wonderful business
trips to Aitape West (tsunami site) and Madang provided a restful
retreat from the tensions of the Aiyura valley.

Life
in the village was troubled this year with fierce tribal fighting
between two major clans. Several innocent ones were killed and
about half the village torched to the ground. The church stood in
the gap, preaching peace without the usual cultural payback and
retribution. But there were other bright moments, as you will see....

Our
trip back to Papua New Guinea from furlough in the US. Then a business
trip took Brian to Chiang Mai, Thailand. There is quite a mix of
photos and locations
here, but we think you'll enjoy these PNG and Thailand photos. On
the way we stopped by to see son David, in Seattle, Washington.

Our
year in photos, but what a year! In the beginning we were working in
PNG, then ran off to a quick furlough in the States, and along the way
ended up in Kenya! There is quite a mix of photos and locations
here, and we think you'll enjoy Vermont and Washington State too.
Kenya Trip in 2007
Honest,
we really do live in Papua New Guinea, but we had this "once in a
lifetime trip" to Nairobi, Kenya to attend an HIV AIDS awareness
conference sponsored by the Forum of Bible Agencies, International.
That brought us to Kenya, and once there, we also took a much
needed holiday (actually our delayed anniversary). It was
tremendous to go on safari and see the animals in various National
Parks, including Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru. God's Creation at
its best.

Cool
photos of the year as sent around the world on our weekly email list.
Themes include tribal dancing, HIV AIDS awarenes work, our
25th
Anniversary in New Zealand (all right so it's not exactly PNG, but it
was still fun!). Return link is at the top of the album.

Scenes of
the fabulous Daga New Testament
celebrations, distant friends over for a vist, our trip to Tawali Dive
Resort near Alotau, sailboarding on Lake
Yonki, working at the Pacific Orientation Course (new workers coming),
and village life. Return link is at the top of the album.

The Daga Video
Traveling far and by small aircraft, we attended the New Testament dedication for the Daga People of Milne Bay Province. A time of celebration and festivities — welcoming the historic occasion of the Scriptures arriving in their unique vernacular language. It was an utterly awe inspiring time. Here is a glimpse of their 10 day celebration in video form (4:30 min., Win Media Player format). Translator Daniel Jesudason speaks, and the Prime Minister makes a surprise visit. (For the sharp eyed, Brian is even captured for a sec.)

Digital Photography
For the curious we are presently using an old Olympus C-740
with a
10X zoom and these can still be found online for a song. If
you
have a friend or two overseas, a very special and practical gift would
be to send them one of these. We get a tremendous response to
our
ministry primarily because of the pictures we take. I guess
the
old saying is true: "A picture is worth a thousands words".
So
your geography is not so hot, eh? Papua New Guinea is just
north
of Australia across the Torres Strait and Queensland, Australia.
It was
"protected" after WW II by the Australians until Independence was
granted in
